Welcome to Cochran's Ski Club 2026-27 season registration!

  • If you have questions about Cochran's Ski Club, please contact us before completing this registration to make sure our program is a good fit for your family. Membership fees are non-refundable.
  • Please complete your membership by October 15th, this will ensure you are up to date on all the early season communications and activities.
  • BIG CHANGE (beginning 2025/26) FOR USS&S MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING:     All athletes u14 and older need to have a current U.S. Ski and Snowboard membership and VARA membership if racing in non-high school races.

For those u12 and under (or only participating in High School racing), read on! U.S. Ski and Snowboard (USS&S) is the sanctioning body for many ski races in the United States and the organization through which the Cochran Ski Club has previously received our liability insurance. In an effort to improve the affordability of the club (and get more comprehensive insurance), we are now using a different club insurance and therefore club members are not required to be members of US&S and the Vermont Alpine Racing Association (VARA) to participate in our activities (including U12 and younger races at Cochran's).

There may be some races at other mountains (possibly Jay Peak, Mad River and Smuggs) that do not require USS&S and VARA memberships, especially for U8s&10s, but that varies by year and is not certain yet. If you plan on only racing at Cochran's you do not need to purchase a USS&S or VARA membership. If you plan on traveling to a few races, you would be able to get a short term membership (valid for 5 days) or the races may not require it. You may only use 1 short term membership per year.

We realize this is a little confusing, but we are doing our best to limit the substantial costs of outside memberships while delivering the experience the kids want! If you are unsure what you need, please email [email protected].  Of note, the membership dues increase on October 15th for returning members, so reach out with questions as soon as possible.

Cochran's Ski Area Pass is required for all Ski Club members. Please review the Cochran's Promise and select a pass product below:

The Cochran’s Promise

Cochran’s Ski Area is more than a place to ski and ride—it’s a community. For generations, people have come here to build confidence, develop lifelong friendships, and learn lessons that extend far beyond the slopes. Being a member of the Cochran’s community isn’t defined by ability; it’s defined by character, responsibility, passion, and respect for others.

One of Cochran’s greatest traditions is helping children become confident, independent skiers and riders. Independence is earned by demonstrating good judgment, skiing and riding in control, following the Responsibility Code, respecting mountain policies, and making choices that keep everyone safe. While we encourage kids to become independent skiers and riders, there may be situations where we require children to have close supervision from a parent, guardian, coach, or other responsible adult.

At Cochran’s, we believe mistakes are opportunities to learn and grow. If behavior does not meet the expectations of our community, staff may work with individuals—and, when appropriate, parents or guardians—to help everyone learn from the situation. Depending on the circumstances, this may include conversations, reminders, or appropriate consequences. Repeated or serious behavior that puts others at risk or harms our community may result in the temporary or permanent loss of skiing or riding privileges.

Together with family, coaches, volunteers, staff, and fellow skiers and riders, we all share the responsibility of creating a safe, welcoming, and positive environment where everyone can learn, grow, and enjoy the mountain.

As a Cochran’s community member, I/we promise to:

    - Treat fellow skiers, riders, coaches, volunteers, staff, and guests with kindness and courtesy.

    - Make safe decisions, follow mountain rules, and take ownership of my actions.

    - Look out for others, include everyone, and help create a welcoming environment.

    - Learn from mistakes, accept challenges, and always work to improve.

    - Enjoy skiing and riding while helping others have a great experience too.

Together we can make Cochran’s a place where everyone feels welcome, respected, and inspired to return!

Acknowledgement of U.S. Ski and Snowboard Abuse Prevention Policies:

USS&S works to provide a safe environment in which athletes can train and compete, free from abuse and inappropriate behavior. All adult members of USS&S are required to adhere to the SafeSport Code and USS&S Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies. The U.S. Center for SafeSport is committed to building a sport community where participants can work and learn together in an atmosphere free of emotional, physical, and sexual misconduct. Annual SafeSport training is required for Cochran’s Ski Club coaches and other adults in positions of authority. SafeSport resources, including training for parents and athletes, can be found at https://usskiandsnowboard.org/safesport-athlete-safety. The USS&S Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies are specific policies that USS&S has adopted to promote an atmosphere free of emotional, physical, and sexual misconduct. These include policies about one-on-one interactions between coaches and athletes; email and social media communications; and travel with coaches. Details of these policies can be found at https://usskiandsnowboard.org/sites/default/files/files-resources/files/2019/MAAPP-June-2019_0.p

PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

The purpose of a code of conduct for parents/guardians is to establish consistent expectations for behavior by parents/guardians when their child is participating in any U.S. Ski & Snowboard activity. We expect parents/guardians to conduct themselves according to U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s core values of Grit, Excellence, Team, Fun, and Integrity, and abide by the spirit and dictates of this Parent Code of Conduct.

All parents/guardians must comport themselves in a sportsmanlike manner and are responsible and accountable for their actions while attending or participating in all U.S. Ski & Snowboard activities. Sportsmanlike conduct is defined as but is not limited to: respect for competition officials, resort employees, U.S. Ski & Snowboard members, and the skiing and snowboarding public, respect for facilities, privileges, and operating procedures, the use of courtesy and good manners, acting responsibly and maturely, and refraining from the use of profane or abusive language. Additionally, it is essential that parents/guardians provide coaching staff with respect and the authority to coach the team. We should all seek to support a sport experience that is transformational for each child in developing as an athlete and as a person.

During any activity associated with U.S. Ski & Snowboard, parents/guardians agree that their conduct will follow:

Setting the right example for children by demonstrating sportsmanship and showing respect and common courtesy at all times to all athletes, team members, coaches, competitors, officials, parents, and all facilities.

Honoring the health and well-being of their child as well as their competitors.

Getting involved by volunteering, observing practices and cheering on all athletes.

Refraining from coaching their child and any other athlete from the stands or sidelines during training and competitions.

Understanding that criticizing, name-calling, use of abusive language or gestures directed toward coaches, officials, any athlete, volunteers, and/or any participant will not be tolerated.

Respecting the integrity of staff, coaches officials, including when at competitions, allowing them to focus on their athletes.

Treating staff, coaches, officials, and all athletes with respect and dignity.

Not harassing or making inappropriate requests of staff or coaches, including but not limited to asking for special support or treatment for their child outside of medical or mental health needs.

All parents/guardians must follow the SafeSport Code, the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policies (MAAPP), and U.S. Ski & Snowboard’s Athlete Safety Policies when participating in any activity associated with U.S. Ski & Snowboard or a member club (see https://www.usskiandsnowboard.org/safesport-athlete-safety).

U.S. Ski & Snowboard reserves the right to restrict access to the “field of play” at a competition by anyone that has disruptive behavior during the competition.

US Ski and Snowboard Membership and VARA Membership:

All athletes that plan to race in US Ski and Snowboard sanctioned races must have a current membership with U.S. Ski & Snowboard with Cochran's as their club. We will be hosting unsanctioned races at Cochran's this winter for U12 and younger. Select other races may likewise not be sanctioned, but those have not been confirmed. These unsanctioned races will not require USS&S membership. If your athlete is planning to race at other hills throughout NVC you will generally still need this membership. Anyone new to racing this season can wait to decide on this membership as there is no increase in cost for a first time USS&S membership. If you have in the past had a USS&S membership you must register by Oct. 15 to aviod higher rates.  PLEASE reach out to [email protected] with questions about your racer before your register with USS&S.  USS&S membership is not included with your registration. Please visit usskiandsnowboard.org to create or renew your membership prior to the start of the season.

All athletes who plan to race NVC races must have a current membership with Vermont Alpine Race Association. VARA membership is not included with your club registration. Please visit vara.org to create or renew your membership. U7 racers are not eligible for NVC races and membership is therefore not required. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have questions about memberships.

Additional Thanksgiving Week Offsite Training Opportunity

  • U12, U14, 16, 18+ Thanksgiving Week Training

Weather pending, and following two years of successful trials by the U12 group, Cochran's Ski Club will be renting lane space for optional early season training for the U12, 14, 16, and 18+ age groups at Sommet Saint Sauver in Quebec this year. Coached training is anticipated to run from Sunday night 11.22 through Friday 11.27. Depending upon snow conditions, families may elect to free ski at the area Saturday or Sunday to knock the rust off, but that time will not be sponsored by the ski club nor coached. In the past, training at this location has involved the use of one semi-private run and lift (this part of the ski area is typically closed to the public at these times) – we occasionally share with another team operating on an adjacent run. Training will target both slalom and giant slalom as snow conditions and lane space allow.

In a change from prior years, the club will not be providing club hosted housing (or food). The club will, however, help facilitate coordination among attending families so that they may work out shared transportation and housing if they prefer. If you choose to make housing reservations early, BE SURE THEY ARE REFUNDABLE! This training is early season and highly weather dependent and we may need to change venue or cancel training if snow conditions do not allow for early season training as planned... final confirmation of location is sometimes feasible only a few days before training.

Costs for training cover lane space, lift tickets for the athletes, and coaching for the six days. Lift tickets for parents skiing on the edge of the training run may be available (they have in the past) and are typically on the order of $50/day purchased day of.

We recognize this training is offered over a holiday. This decision balances the desire to offer quality training opportunities with that of many club members to avoid impacts to school schedules. This is not a holiday week in QC and therefore offers us this unique opportunity at an otherwise closed area. Families are, in Cochran’s fashion, welcome to attend as few or as many days as they wish. Due to the unchanging costs of lane space rental and coaching, the fee for the week will remain unchanged regardless of the number of days an athlete chooses to attend. Though a great opportunity, this training is considered optional and families should feel under no obligation to participate.

The fee for this training opportunity will be $600/athlete. We want kids to participate. If the financial cost is a limiting factor in your athlete's participation and they would enjoy and benefit from the opportunity, please select below that you plan to attend and reach out to [email protected].

Final payment will be collected in November, though we ask that you indicate your intention to attend (if that is the case) below so that we may plan accordingly. We should be able to accommodate late decisions if you are not sure at this time, but the better our names and numbers now, the better coordinated we will be able to be and the more likely your family will be able to group up for transportation and housing should you desire.

Check here if you are willing to host additional athletes for shared transportation or housing; we will share your contact information with other attendees accordingly.

Could you make a donation to Cochran's Ski Club?
